Who is right?

I don't mean to step on anyone's toes, and forgive me if I do, but I have an honest question that as of recent times I've felt conviction in my heart. There are many churches and denominations under the "Christian" umbrella in the United States, yet many have different beliefs and faiths. One prays to images, which we are told not to do. Another celebrates  holidays with pagan origins, which we're told to steer away from the things of the occult. There are so many different beliefs out there. God is not the author of confusion, so why is there so much confusion and false teachings within the many Christian churches that claim they follow God?

I think for the most part MOST of them want to teach the Bible and reach a lost people. But for the most part-that is not easy to do. You take a homeless person and give them a glimmer of hope and they will experience God's love much quicker than the person that has a job and a roof over their heads. In the mean while- since most of the US is spoiled and comfortable, the Preachers/Pastors/Teachers are trying to reach people at a level they understand rather than the original teachings of the Bible. Not that they are not trying to convey the original Word, but translation to different individuals mean different things. Take Paula White for instance- I believe she wants to be a great disciple of the word- but as the African American influence in her Church grows- she feels she has to use the dramatic language, because she thinks that is all they will understand and only that will keep them interested.

Other Pastors etc. will tell you that God wants you to be rich- without divulging the passages before it that state rich is wisdom, love and the likes. They plant a part of the seed to entice people to the Bible without revealing the whole content. I try not to be critical as at least they are (hopefully) getting people to open the Bible. Planting the seed. As individuals- it is up to ourselves to delve in and learn the truth. United as teachers under 1 understanding of God's word would be ultimate ! I do not however- forsee it.

Why?  Because in a 'perfect' world (Heaven) there wouldnt be confusion.......just about anything man-kind puts his hand to organizationally speaking has roots in 'confusion'.

Hi Texmex,

What is Christianity's "bottom line?"

Mat 22:36  "Teacher," he asked, "which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"

Mat 22:37  Jesus answered, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'

Mat 22:38  This is the greatest and the most important commandment.

Mat 22:39  The second most important commandment is like it: 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself.'

Mat 22:40  The whole Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets depend on these two commandments."

God bless & keep ya & make his face shine on ya & give ya peace.

You ask a good question texmex. I also agree with the other responses. I believe pastors or preachers have to teach the word of God on a level that their congregation can understand. If for example you have a room full of unbelievers, you would want to start talking about the basics of salvation and not jump right in and have everyone start talking in tongues. Jesus know how to speak to people during his time on earth by using parables for them to understand. I do disagree with some using idols or getting involed with occult rituals.

All I can tell you is my own thoughts.  And my reasoning is that maybe there are to many people not doing what they are called to do and doing instead what satisfies their flesh.  It's not only that way in the United States, but all over.  And it hasn't just been in our time, but also in Paul's.  You can see it in differnt places in the Bible and just the history of the Corinthians is very interesting.  It's really to many people going by "This is what I feel, think or get" from the Bible instead of "This is what the Bible says" and that's that.
