Yeah, go ahead and talk about crocheting!!!  I knew how to crochet for many years before I finally learned how to knit.  That white baby afghan I just finished knitting--I did the blue border ruffle in crochet. (mainly cause I didn't know how to knit a border on, lol).
And yeah, I have started a project , got half way through, and figured out I would run out of yarn, duh, so, better to buy too much all at the begining, rather than be short in the end.  And don't ever trust those labels that say "no dye lot", even white is not always the same white.  I found that out with that baby afghan.

I do crewel embroidery...mostly pillow cases and tea towels.  I like to use vintage patterns.

That is so cool. I have some creweled handkerchiefs (is that how you say it?)  that my great grandmother made as well as tatting with tiny hooks. Its amazing what beautiful things can be done with thread, time and imagination.

Although I have crocheted for years I have never tried the tiny crochet thread my grandma was so busy with, making doilies, etc. She tried to show me one pattern she called "mile a minute", anybody heard of it?  Maybe I will get it out and try it someday...I am still working on quilting steadily, that I learned from this same grandma.  I have never tried crewel or tatting, but I have tried latch hook.

I like quilting and knitting also.  The sweater here, I made for my nephew who is expecting another child, and now I find out he's having a girl!  Oh well, next one.

This quilt is from a pattern that my Grandma and I found when we were on our way back from a wonderful vacation in Maine.  I saw the quilt shop and we make a quick stop.  We both liked the pattern and thought we'd each do a quilt or wall hanging.  I finished mine after she died and I have hers which just needs to be quilted.  A wonderful memory...

You know you guys are pretty sharp!!  I didn't even catch the "oops" till you guys spotted it.  Hopefully Cindy will just LOL, that's all we're doing is having fun and sharing our hobbies and interests, right!!  So....Sandy what hobby do you do, besides raising bunnies, I mean?  Any sewing or knitting or crocheting, etc ?  We would love to hear about it..  I am still knitting socks for now, and taking a try at making a simple baby sweater.  The 2 grandbabies are keeping me pretty busy, and I am sure loving it!!  You know why we gramma's love it?  Cause we can hold em and play with em all day-- and give them back to Mom and Dad-- and we don't have to get up in the night with them.  Well, at least I haven't done any over nights babysitting as a gramma yet....  My daughter's birthday is soon and I asked her what she wanted ( she has a 3 week newborn girl)  and her answer was "sleep"...."welcome to parenthood sweetheart"...anyway, the subject was knitting---she has just about outgrown the tiny baby socks I knitted.

    Hi Cindy,
I love quilting, too.  What is the pattern name?  Looks like grandma's fan to me, something similar.  All I ever did was quilt ...till my daughter asked me to teach her how to knit--and I didn't know how.  So I learned how to knit a year and a half ago--and I liked it so much I haven't stopped.  Oh, by the way, my daughter did try to knit but didn't stick with it--now she has a new baby and no time for anything.  Any how!!!  Beautiful quilt!!  Is it hand quilted or machine quilted?  All I know how to do is hand quilt.  More later-gotta go to bed.  Love hearing from all of you!!

OK you smarties!  Yes, my "nephew" is having the baby. His wife will be right there pushing with him.
The quilt pattern is called Grandmother's Fan.  I machine stitched the pieces and hand quilted it.  I think it will be my last hand quilted one for quite some time.  It took me two years.  I'd rather machine stitch but haven't been able to get it pinned and basted good enough so it doesn't pucker as it goes through the machine.

I love to laugh, so keep picking!

    Re: My hobbie is knitting.

    Hi Cindy,
I know what you mean by the puckering....that's the biggest obstacle I have-- to learning how to machine quilt.  so therefore, all I do is hand quilt.  The one I posted in my blog--it took me 10 years to complete--I know for sure I will never do that pattern again!!  Too tedious!  I would get tired of it and put it away for awhile and work on something else, then go back to it again.  I have a bad habit of having about 10 projects going at the same time.  Thanks for sharing!!

Seen like I’m missing so much fun because I know none of these skills; but I do cross stitching. It really needs a lot of patience; as a result I seldom do it…

Oh! I cross stitch too! I really like it.

I know what you mean about having 10 projects going at the same time!  I have gotten my list down some by shear willpower!  I refuse to start another project until xxx is done.  It works....for a while.  Then I see something I bought and say, oh yeah, let me start that one now!
